Indian Wells: best tennis, best location, scary windmills. I’ve been feeling the same way for a decade (or so). I start to get really excited in early February because I know Indian Wells is only a month away. And yes, Matt Van Tuinin, the avuncular head of media relations for the tournament, requests strongly that we refer to this event not as Indian Wells, but by its proper title, the BNP Paribas Masters, which I now have. (Not to mention the article title, Matt please note…) But you can’t get away from the cache of the location and that location is Indian Wells, one of my favorite places on earth. Whatever you call the event, it’s one of the greatest experiences you can have in the world if you love tennis. Let’s not name names, but I can’t really say the same about many world pro events I have attended over the years. And now let’s get to the point of the article.
