Currently a coach at River Oaks Country Club in Houston, Lori McNeil was highly regarded for her formidable serve-and-volley game. Over the course of a 20-year-pro career, Lori cracked the top ten in both singles and doubles — No. 9 in singles and No. 4 in doubles. All told, she won 43 WTA titles — 10 in singles, 33 in doubles. In 1988, alongside Jorge Lozano, she won the mixed doubles title at Roland-Garros. Lori’s most notable wins include beating Chrissie Evert in the quarterfinals of the 1987 US Open and Stefanie Graf in the first round of Wimbledon in 1994. The win over Graf marked the first time a defending Wimbledon women’s champion had ever lost her opening match.
