    Mayotte to be one of 17 national coaches Associated Press

    WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Former top 10 player Tim Mayotte has been hired as a U.S. Tennis Association national coach.

    Mayotte will be based in Boca Raton, Fla., and work with players in the USTA player development program. He is one of 17 national coaches.

    Mayotte played professionally from 1980-90, reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon in 1982 and the Australian Open in 1981. He won a silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

    USTA general manager of player development Patrick McEnroe called Mayotte a consummate professional as a player who channeled his passion for the game into coaching.
