  • What causes muscle cramps/tennis related?

Speedy, vigorous, activity in hot weather, (a tennis match), depletes our blood of sodium and potassium, and other electrolytes. The muscles start cramping to force lactic acid laden blood into cells that don't want it. Dehydration, increased water loss, in hotter weather, increases the likelihood of cramping for those already susceptible.

Thermotabs, contains sodium and pot., as does Morton's lite salt, (cheaper) and it is a good idea for those who are more prone to cramping, to take these before, during and after a match on a hot day. Your own system will determine how much. Too much salt, is not good for you either. Too much pot. can cause heart arrest. So don't go chowing down on too much. Best to try small amounts first. Quinine also works for many, but has many side effects! (Will kill some who take it.) Pickle juice sport makes a juice rich in electrolytes, that many cramp prone pro footballers use.
