Here is another drill game to create multiple repetitions at the net, including overheads. This drill compliments last month’s drill. (Click Here.) The point in both drill games is to have to hit many more shots at the net than is normal in match play to develop consistency and confidence.
Divide the court in half diagonally, including the doubles alleys. Start with the deuce boxes. Now put down a marker strip in the center of the boxes. The net player starts on the strip and feeds the first ball. The backcourt player has to hit a lob on his first ball.
Now play out the points. You can play games to 7 points, 11 points, or longer. Now shift to the ad court and repeat. Once one player has played the net position on both halves, switch and have the backcourt player take the net.
