AP: BASTAD, Sweden (AP) — More than 40 years later, there is another Borg on the list of ATP match winners.

Leo Borg, the son of 11-time Grand Slam champion Bj?rn Borg, won a main-draw match on the ATP tour for the first time on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old Borg put his hands on his hips and beamed broadly after sealing the win with an ace — on the first of three match points — to record a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Swedish compatriot Elias Ymer at the Nordea Open.

Daddy is a tough act to follow. Borg senior had won his first slam aged 18 and was just 20 when he won Wimbles. Seems Leo is not in the same hemisphere as his father at the current time.

Crazy to think Borg senior retired aged just 26 with 11 slam titles under his belt. No other player in history has won 11 slams as quickly as Borg. Unfathomable that he retired so early while there was still so much to play for.

Yup. I'd contend the "Channel Slam" back then, before the courts were homogenized and the time between slams lengthened, was one of the most impressive achievements in tennis. Playing pro tennis non-stop from 17-to-26 yo took a toll.

Then again, I remember John Newcomb saying that "With that stance and forehand he won't last 5 years on tour."
