Just before the great football coach, Vince Lombardi, passed away he confessed to a friend that his greatest regret in life was to be remembered for the quote, “Winning isn’t everything it is the only thing.” Lombardi never said it or believed it, what he really said and believed were these words that were framed on the wall in the Green Bay Packers’s locker room. “WINNING ISN’T EVERYTHING BUT MAKING THE EFFORT TO WIN IS.” Unfortunately, a journalist rewrote Lombardi’s words to the more familiar and disingenuous quote.
