  • Modern Tennis...***** per Roger Federer

Interesting discussion...sort of. Andy Roddick and Roger Federer in some kind of forum discussion. Court surfaces came up as a topic. Cautiously dancing around the topic. You cannot bite the hand that feeds you. A topic that I have been very critical of in "Modern Tennis" as in fake tennis. It isn't even tennis anymore. Federer knows it. Roddick knows it. One dimensional game engineered beyond all recognition. Interesting to hear Roger discussing the lack of variety in the game. He being "The Living Proof".

Hahaha...this is laughable if it wasn't so terribly ironic. Ok...now we've reached the point where the powers that be are considering the fact that the courts are too slow and too uniform. It's true. They should be congratulated on finally discerning the most obvious. Idiots...it goes back fifty years now. It isn't just that Sinner and Alcarez will dominate everything if it's slow...it's the racquets, the balls, the strings!!! There was nothing wrong with the game as it was originally played. The "improvements" to the game over the past fifty years have nothing to do with evolution. It's engineering, Baby! Irony of ironies...it has gone full circle. Spinning and swirling right into the toilet. Remember when I used to write about..."listen to that sound. What is it? It's the sound of the toilet flushing". I was projecting what the loss of Roger Federer (irony) would mean for the game. Elvis leaving the stadium. A giant sucking sound.

So yes...by all means speed up the courts. At the same time reintroduce the original equipment for the pro game. They are the best at what they do and of course they will struggle with it. If they are to survive...they will adapt. Isn't that the crux of the Survival of the Species? Of evolution? The origin of the species?

Hahaha...it will never happen. But there is a lesson here. For mankind. Extrapolate. The human species believes they have evolved to a level higher than their predecessors. That, of course, is pure malarkey. The fact is we have been engineered. We have created an illusion in order to make ourselves feel superior. Cameras to make the photographer feel superior. Word processors to make the writer feel superior. Graphite hockey sticks to make the hockey player feel superior. Howitzer tennis racquets...to create the illusion. Of superiority. Hahaha...soon the Artificial Intelligence will turn the tables. Do the evolution...before it's too late. Because if this is evolution I am a monkey's uncle. It's engineering...Baby! So Roger is suggesting we speed up the courts. don_budge is suggesting we return the entire clusterfuck back to the original. The game has devolved...to this. Speeding up the courts to level the field for Alcarez and Sinner. You cannot make this stuff up. Irony of ironies. Vanity of vanities. You don't have to be King Solomon to figure it out either.

The funny thing is...the truly funny thing is, I was screaming this fifty years ago. Well...feel good. They thought I was off my rocker than. Too. My God. Goodness gracious. Irony of ironies.

      Do the Evolution...Pearl Jam (1998)

      Woo
      I'm ahead, I'm a man
I'm the first mammal to wear pants, yeah
I'm at peace with my lust
I can kill 'cause in god I trust, yeah
      It's evolution, baby, yeah

I'm at peace, I'm the man
Buying stocks on the day of the crash, yeah
On the loose, I'm a truck
All the rolling hills, I'll flatten 'em out, yeah
      It's herd behavior, uh huh
      It's evolution, baby, good

      Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, he's my clone
      Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
This land is mine, this land is free
I'll do what I want but irresponsibly
      It's evolution, baby, uh

      I'm a thief, I'm a liar
There's my church, I sing in the choir
      Hallelujah
      Hallelujah
      Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, admire my clones
'Cause we know, appetite for a nightly feast
Those ignorant Indians got nothin' on me
      Nothin', why?
      Because it's evolution, baby

I am ahead, I am advanced
I am the first mammal to make plans, yeah
I crawled the earth, but now I'm higher
2010, watch it go to fire
      It's evolution, baby, ugh
      It's evolution, baby
      Ah, do the evolution
Come on, come on, come on
