Is there anyone out there who is a raquet weight and balance expert when it comes to junior players ages 7-11? What specs match what ability levels/ages? My son is 7 and is about to make the move from level 3 10and unders to level 2. He has been playing with a 26 inch prince tour with the holes, and I'm looking into 27 inch raquets. Should I go head light first, head heavy, even, 9.3 ounces(lighter), 10 ounces(heavier)? Thanks Harry Kingsley

Harry,
probably you will need AT LEAST TWO different rackets for
a span of time 7-11 year old.
Couple of very random thoughts.
I assume your son used
O3 HYBRID SHARAPOVA 26
Please let me know if this is correct.
One obvious solution would be to stay with the Prince line of rackets.
One possibility would be
but it is an adult racket.
Next possibility going to a different brand-Babolat
The grip for the last one is 4 1/8

I saw several little guys with 27inch babalots at a 10 and under tournament today. He doesn't have the sharapova; he has the prince ozone tour 26. I'll check the specs on those. What's your take on weight and balance when transitioning to the bigger raquet? Harry

Babolat 27 is TOO EARLY for your son.It is 11.3 ounces.Too heavy.
Balance of Babolat 27 coud be difficult for a junior.

Comments: HORRIBLE. My friend has this racquet when he was a begginer it worked awesome, but this "kid version" as he put it STINKS. Now he is an intermediate. When he plays matches I always beat him. When I lend him my racquet I still beat him but he is always close to winning. My advice GET THE ADULT VERSION!

Comments: Great racquet, a great buy. If you have the money, you should buy this one over all of the other ones. The racquet allows for great amounts of topspin to be placed on the ball, and the power that the racquets produces is great. This really helps on the serve. The amount of control is great. Overall this is an amazing racquet and a great buy!

Comments: While this racquet is good for a beginner, once that beginner becomes an intermediate, and his swings get faster and control is prioritized over power, the head-heaviness of the racquet begins to get in the way and cause many mis-hits. My 8 year old brother, who's used this racquet for 4 months, has developed his game with this stick, and he adores it. But now that he's better, I had to apply lead to the handle to give him more control.

Majority of junior rackets are head heavy
A good qulity equipment for adults WHICH I KNOW
is generally head light.
Explaining a difference is difficult.
An only explanation which comes to my mind is
that designers of junior rackets wanted to provide
enough mass/weight for head of a racket in the case of junior rackets
to hit comparatevely heavy balls.
Whether using an ADULT racket ( head light) at the age of 7 is
good or bad is an open questions.

We've got a shop with a lot of demos nearby and we'll probably try all of these. I'm leaning towards the Babalot drive z lite. Even though he might night be quite ready for 27 inches, I can keep it as a backup for his Prince OZone. He needs a backup because he's eating through string really quickly and I wind up replacing string before it breaks because it starts unraveling and looking horrible. I can't see getting another 26 inch as a backup when he'll definitely be out of 26inches within this year. Thanks for the help,

Please see that Babolat Drive Z Lite is SIX POINTS Head Heavy.
I am NOT sure whether it is good or NOT.
It is good probably because a transition from a junior racket is easier.

I used to recommend this racket for my junior ( 13 year old) students
but do NOT do it anymore
