    Actually he doesn't hold his forehand grip in the ready position. That's his return grip and he goes back to it after most balls. So the shift you are talking about is to the 3 1/2 / 3.

    More on this shift in the next article on the one-handed backhand actually.

    I would say that the grip will naturally slide at times--and at others not--depending on the ball and other factors--but it's small. Not a conscious decision to use multiple grips by any means.
