  • Henin's new serve and forehand backswing?

Recently read this piece by Tennis magazine's Steve Tignor: http://tennisworld.typepad.com/thewr...n-players.html

He writes that Henin has changed both her service toss, bringing it more to the right, and her forehand backswing, shortening it.

It's well-known that Henin used film of Sampras and Agassi to retool her serve and forehand, respectively, in the past. What do you all think of her current round of changes? (She does seem to be the most willing of any recent champion to fiddle with her technique.)

Saw the recent final with Kim C which was a very close match and noted the change on the forehand. Serve looks the same to me. The footspeed is still there. I don't think the forehand is a radical change. Seems like she is shifting to catching the ball more on the rise and this is the reason for the slightly shorter swing. She also seems more on the front foot at contact. Did note that she is looking to come in and play an all court game. It will be interesting to see if she keeps doing that in the Aussie Open. If she can pull that style off it may set her apart from the rest of the field.
