he hit a pretty poor flat serve down the t and got a wicked return that he had to hit on the run with the reverse forehand..not a very good serve.I've seen him hit better serves.

simply meant that he was under a lot of pressure from the return..a great flat or kick serve might have lead to a shorter ball that would allow him to move in to the court..
(it's all relative..it was a great serve for anybody else on the planet)
