"Gorgeous" Gussie Moran

In the mid-50's, my father, who was a good tennis player, often played mixed doubles, with "Gorgeous" Gussie Moran, who shocked the English in 1949 by playing at Wimbledon with short skirt and ruffled underwear. When mother and I would go to watch, father ignored us, making mother furious. "But Olga, "father would say, "I had to concentrate....". It was at this point that I got interested in playing tennis.
