  • cameras and a book

    John
Do you reccomend a certain type of camcorder for videotaping strokes?
the one i use has a slow motion replay so i can still the frame during the swing or at contact and then show the player. the quality is not great so i was hoping you had a suggestion.

Also I wish someone would videotape pro players strokes(like yourself)
and put a stroke picture book together. I think it would a be a hit.
    What do you think?

    3. How much has vidotaping affeced your coaching/teaching methods/philosophy?

Any good miniDV camera is fine--$700 and up. You need a sports shutter setting or preferably a manual shutter. Without that you can't freeze the action.

The book idea is a good one. You can't get the quality that publishers want from video however. Still, it might be good when Tennisplayer starts it's own press. You can print out the stroke archive videos yourself frame by frame in the meantime and make your own. Just export the video in QT Pro as an image sequence. You can then print out the individual frames.

        A new book?

        Rob,

If you buy a camera, look into getting one with progressive scan to make sure you get a clearer image on each frame.
