Hi Sean .....the answer is yes ....I like to compare it too swimming where you have to finishing the tumble turn before you push off the wall....extension of the swing is everything and this comes down to keeping your balance and your body alignment at all times and if you fix your balance you will fix your swing.
When the trail leg comes around it must seem more like a push than a brake ....in other words the contact move is completed before the back leg is used to aid in your recovery steps
