Roger Federer...The last connection to the Classic Era of Tennis. The author repeatedly mentions that Roger has 103 tournament wins and Jimmy Connors has 109. He thinks that Roger has that number in mind. It is a bit of a dilemma for Roger. He is hunting Slam titles but he is beginning to realize that this is just about impossible to do at this point. Australian Open case in point...even with a great draw with the number 67 and 100 players in the world eventually he is going to run into Nadal or Djokovic or both. A tough ask at this point in his career. He could conceivably rack up a number of wins by playing lesser events such as ATP 250 level if he wanted the Connors record badly enough. He mentions that Connors last win was in Tel Aviv at 37 years old...not exactly mainstream ATP.
