Wow! He does resemble Fed/ Nadal. My guess is that having a tennis father/family seems to have been a positive rather than a negative to help him manage expectations and stay grounded while starting at such a young age. That doesn’t work for everyone, however.

Great question...particularly coming from you "The King of Modern Tennis Technique"! Here is his resume. He reminds me so much of Aaron Krickstein at the same age. Notice he beat Jannik Sinner about this time last year. Sinner is one of the current "Next Generation Darlings" at the moment. One forum contributor commented that he seemed to be the "real deal".Originally posted by johnyandell View PostHas he beaten anyone? Ranked 300 something. Technique is important...but...

I also picked up on him while you were soaking up the sun in Del Ray with that other guy. Kyle LaCroix. I called it a "seismic tremor". Remember when I referred to Novak Djokovic as "Meteoric"? Could lightening hit twice?
This kid is exceptional. The way he is coming through the ball is extraordinary. Once he fully develops and by the looks of it he is training really hard. The gym! I haven't seen anything so complete. Too bad about the two-handed backhand though.Originally posted by don_budge View PostA seismic tremor down in Rio de Janeiro...a sixteen year old ranked #406 defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas who is ranked #41. This is news. Suddenly this young player is on the Tennisplayer.net radar. This is his first win in an ATP tournament. He next plays Federico Coria who is ranked #116. Let's see how this tournament pans out for the young Carlos Alcaraz.
Dominic Thiem is the top seed in a draw mostly headlined by clay court specialists.

He's going to take bigger scalps in the near future...trust me.
