    Upsets galore.

Nick Kyrgios defeats Daniil Medvedev 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-2 to record the 2nd win of his career against a World No. 1, first since upset of Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon... in 2014.
8th win in a row. {Shall we start the drumbeat now for, "Is Nick serious about tennis THIS time?", again?

    Tommy Paul 0utlasts Carlos Alacaraz
    6-7, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 in marathon

    CocoGauff beat Wimbledon champ Rybakina 4-6, 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (3)

Fans of Serve & Volley note Nick was S&Ving a lot was Medy. People have long said the Russian's deep return position was vulnerable to that, but few opponents either dared or have the skills to do so. Nick missed a fair number of volleys doing so, but made enough to win.

In line with discussions of Coco Gauff's game, she had a good win over former number 2 Aryna Sabalenka BUT ...

The two combined for 33 double faults. (Yes - Thirty Three Doubles). This after Arnya combined with Kasatkina for 36 double faults in Dasha' win at San Jose.

I fear the Wimbledon layoff has wreaked havoc with Anya's serve -- but why it is so "contagious" to her opponents is beyond me < g >.
