This year marks the 30th anniversary of one of the most iconic matches in tennis history: the 1995 US Open final between Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras.

Agassi, the defending champion and world No. 1, arrived with momentum — riding a dominant summer hard-court streak (Washington D.C., Montreal, Cincinnati, New Haven). But it was Sampras who rose to the occasion, delivering a masterclass in serving (13 aces) to win in four sets: 6–4, 6–3, 4–6, 7–5 in 2 hours and 28 minutes. The victory marked Sampras’ 7th Grand Slam title and 3rd US Open crown, but also represented a turning point in their rivalry. Agassi would later describe this match as one of the most difficult losses of his career — a moment that triggered a personal and professional slump.
